Quick Fix Checklist (Start Here)
- Power: Confirm the camera is connected to a working PoE+ port, a compatible PoE+ switch, or the included power adapter.
- Startup: Wait at least 2 minutes after connecting power for the camera to start and initialize.
- Connection: Check that the Ethernet cable is fully seated at both ends and is not damaged.
- Cable length: Use a CAT5e or higher Ethernet cable up to 300 ft (91 m).
- NVR: If connected through a network instead of directly to the recorder’s PoE+ ports, make sure the camera has been searched for or added manually in the recorder.
- Credentials: If the camera appears with a red status, verify the correct username and password.
- PTZ: Select the PTZ camera channel in Live View, open the Quick Camera Toolbar, then click PTZ.
- Auto movement: If the camera moves on its own, check whether Auto Tracking, a Scan, a Tour, or PTZ linkage is active.
- Image: Clean the lens area with a soft, slightly damp cloth and make sure protective film has been removed.
- Night view: Reposition the camera away from nearby walls, eaves, glass, or other reflective surfaces.
Camera does not power on / no image
- The camera may take a few minutes to start after power is connected. Wait at least 2 minutes before continuing troubleshooting.
- Check that the camera is properly connected to the recorder, network, or power source.
- If connected directly to an NVR, make sure the camera is connected to a PoE+ port on a compatible NVR.
- If connected through a PoE switch, make sure the switch supports PoE+ power output. Standard PoE switches may not provide enough power for the camera.
- If using the included power adapter, make sure the power adapter wires are connected with the correct polarity. The striped positive wire from the power adapter must connect to the terminal opposite the camera’s red wire, and the remaining power adapter wire must connect to the terminal opposite the camera’s black wire.
- If the camera is connected through the LAN, make sure the camera and NVR are connected to the same network.
- If the camera is connected through the LAN, add the camera to the NVR manually.
- Make sure the Ethernet cable is CAT5e or higher and does not exceed 300 ft (91 m).
- Check the Ethernet cable for damage or loose connections. Try a different Ethernet cable if needed.
- Reset the camera to factory default settings if the issue continues by accessing the reset button in the service panel (located on the camera - use the Allen key to open).
Camera offline / not detected
- For the simplest setup, connect the camera directly to one of the recorder’s built-in PoE+ ports. It should appear automatically.
- If the camera is connected through your local network, go to Main Menu > Settings > Channel > Camera and click Search Device.
- Make sure the camera is powered on.
- Make sure the camera and NVR are connected to the same local network.
- Make sure there is at least one empty channel available on the NVR.
- Check that the Ethernet cable is securely connected to the camera, PoE+ switch, router, or NVR.
- If using a PoE+ switch, confirm that the switch is powered on and connected to the router.
- If using the included power adapter, confirm that the camera is also connected to the router using an Ethernet cable.
- Restart the camera and search again from the NVR.

Camera shows red status after being added
A red status usually means there is an authentication mismatch between the camera and recorder.
- Go to Main Menu > Settings > Channel > Camera.
- Locate the affected camera and click Modify under Operate.
- Update the camera username and password.
- Click OK to save.
- If needed, open the More options menu under Operate and click Reset so the recorder can reapply its current password to the camera.
PTZ controls not responding
- Make sure the selected channel is the PTZ camera channel.
- Wait until the camera finishes its startup sequence before using PTZ controls.
- Check that the camera is connected to a compatible NVR.
- If the camera is connected through the LAN, make sure it has been successfully added to the NVR.
- If a Scan or Tour is running, stop the automatic PTZ action before using manual controls.
- Check the network connection and Ethernet cable.
Camera moves on its own
- Auto Tracking may be enabled. The camera can automatically pan, tilt, and zoom to follow supported targets.
- A Scan or Tour may be running. Stop the Scan or Tour from the PTZ controls.
- IVS / AI analytics may be linked to a PTZ preset. When an event is detected, the camera can automatically move to the selected preset.
Auto Tracking not working
- Make sure Auto Tracking is enabled for the correct camera channel.
- Make sure the correct Tracking Type is selected.
- Confirm that the target is within the camera’s field of view.
- Adjust the Calibration Coefficient if the camera is not following the target accurately.
- Adjust Trace Magnify if the camera is zooming too far in or not zooming enough while tracking.
- Make sure the Start Point preset has been created.
- Auto Tracking is disabled when Presets, Scan, or Tour functions are active. Stop the active PTZ function and try again.
- Check the Time of Duration setting. The camera returns to the Start Point after tracking ends or after the configured tracking duration.
Camera does not return to the correct position after Auto Tracking
- Make sure the Start Point is set to the correct preset in the Auto Tracking settings.
- Confirm that the selected preset still exists.
- Recreate the preset if the saved position is no longer accurate.
- Check the Time of Duration setting. The camera returns to the Start Point after tracking ends or after the configured tracking duration.
- Stop any active Preset, Scan, or Tour function, then test Auto Tracking again.
Preset, scan, or tour not working
- Make sure the preset, scan, or tour has been saved.
- For presets, open the Preset menu, select the preset, and click Go To.
- If a preset does not move the camera, try creating the preset again.
- For scans, make sure the start and end positions have been defined. The Go To option is only available if a scan has already been created for the selected scan number.
- For tours, make sure presets have been added to the tour and a dwell time has been set.
- Make sure the camera is not currently running another Scan, Tour, Auto Tracking action, or IVS-triggered PTZ action.
- Restart the camera and try again.
PTZ linkage not working with IVS / AI analytics
- Make sure the IVS detection type is enabled.
- Make sure the detection area or detection line has been configured correctly.
- Make sure the IVS event schedule is active for the current day and time.
- Confirm that PTZ is enabled in the Event Actions tab.
- Confirm that the correct PTZ camera channel is selected.
- Confirm that the selected preset exists.
- Test the preset manually from the PTZ controls.
- If using target filtering, make sure the selected target type matches the object being detected, such as Person, Vehicle, or Person or Vehicle.
- For line-crossing detection, make sure the detection direction is configured correctly.
- For loitering or unauthorized parking, make sure the time threshold is not set too high.
- Refer to the compatible NVR manual for detailed IVS event configuration.
Motion / AI detection not working
- Confirm detection is enabled for the correct channel on the recorder.
- Review the detection area or detection line and make sure it covers the correct part of the image.
- Position the camera so people or vehicles move across the detection area or line rather than directly toward the camera.
- Adjust sensitivity, target type, direction, or time threshold settings if available.
- Check the detection schedule.
- For AI events, verify you selected the correct feature, such as Person, Vehicle, Intrusion, Loitering, Wrong-Way, Unauthorized Parking, Line-Crossing, Dual-Line Crossing, or People Counting.
- Check lighting conditions and image clarity. Poor lighting, glare, heavy rain, snow, fog, or obstructions may affect detection performance.
- Clean the camera lens area with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
Motion detection or event recording is constantly triggering
- If the camera is moving because of manual PTZ control, Auto Tracking, Scan, Tour, or PTZ linkage, the NVR may detect the camera movement as video motion.
- Adjust motion detection sensitivity or detection areas on the NVR.
- Use AI-based detection filters, such as Person or Vehicle, when available.
- Avoid aiming the camera at moving trees, flags, traffic, reflections, or other sources of repeated motion.
- If using PTZ movement frequently, consider limiting basic video motion detection on that channel and using IVS / AI analytics instead.
Image is out of focus
- Use Auto Focus from the PTZ Advanced menu.
- Check the camera’s Zoom Focus settings.
- If using Manual focus, adjust Near Focus or Far Focus until the image is clear.
- Use Auto Focus Once to perform a one-time focus adjustment.
- Run Lens Initialization to recalibrate the lens position.
- Clean the camera lens area with a soft, slightly damp cloth.
- Avoid pointing the camera directly at the sun, spotlights, headlights, or other intense light sources.
Image is too bright / too dark
- Make sure the camera is not pointed directly at the sun, spotlights, headlights, or other intense light sources.
- Check the NVR image settings, such as brightness and contrast.
- Reposition the camera if the monitored area has very low light, uneven lighting, glare, or strong backlighting.
- Enable or adjust Wide Dynamic Range / WDR settings on the NVR.
- Make sure the camera lens area is clean.
- Check that the camera is installed within the specified operating conditions.
Night vision / color night vision not working as expected
- The camera may switch to black-and-white IR night vision when there is not enough ambient light for color nighttime video.
- Add ambient lighting to the scene if color nighttime video is required.
- Make sure the camera is not installed in a location where nearby surfaces reflect IR light back into the lens.
- Actual night vision range and image clarity depend on the installation location, viewing area, and light reflection or absorption.
- Check the NVR image settings, such as brightness and contrast.
- Enable or adjust Wide Dynamic Range / WDR settings on the NVR.
White glare or haze at night
- Move the camera away from nearby walls, eaves, branches, gutters, or other reflective surfaces.
- Do not aim the camera through glass, as infrared light can reflect back into the lens.
- Clean the lens area regularly and remove spiderwebs, dust, rain spots, or debris.
- Try adjusting the viewing angle slightly downward and away from reflective objects.
- Check for rain, snow, fog, dust, or insects near the camera.
Audio / two-way talk not working
- Make sure audio is enabled on the NVR.
- Make sure the correct camera channel is selected.
- Check microphone and speaker settings on the NVR.
- If using external audio devices, confirm that the Audio In and Audio Out connections are secure.
- Confirm that the NVR, app, or client software volume is not muted.
- Audio recording is disabled by default and must be used in compliance with local laws and regulations.
Deterrence light, siren, or pre-recorded message does not activate
- Make sure the deterrence action is enabled for the selected event.
- Check the Event Actions settings for the IVS detection type.
- Make sure the selected schedule is active.
- Confirm that the event is actually being detected.
- If using a pre-recorded message, make sure an audio file has been selected.
- Test the deterrence feature manually, if supported by the NVR.
microSD recordings not available in NVR or app
The camera supports microSD local storage, but this works as independent camera-side recording.
- microSD recordings can be accessed through the camera in a web browser.
- microSD recordings do not upload to the NVR.
- microSD recordings do not upload to the cloud for mobile app viewing.
- If you need recorder playback in the app, record through a compatible NVR instead.
- Make sure the microSD card capacity does not exceed 1 TB.
- Restart the camera after inserting the card.
Camera does not reset
- Make sure the camera is powered on before pressing the reset button.
- Press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds.
- Wait a few minutes for the camera to restart and reappear on the network.
- After reset, camera settings return to default values and may need to be configured again.
- If the camera was connected through the LAN, you may need to add it to the NVR again.
Remote viewing not working
- Remote viewing is handled through the NVR, not by adding the camera directly.
- Confirm the recorder is connected to your router and online.
- In the Lorex Connect app, add the Recorder.
- Make sure your phone and recorder are on the same network during initial app setup.
How do I connect the camera to the NVR?
You can connect the camera directly to a compatible NVR’s built-in PoE+ port using a single Ethernet cable for power, video, and PTZ control data.

- Connect the camera Ethernet cable to an Ethernet extension cable.
- Connect the Ethernet extension cable to one of the PoE+ ports on the back panel of the NVR.
- If the Ethernet connection will be exposed to moisture, install the included weather-resistant RJ45 cable gland over the Ethernet connection.
- Wait at least 2 minutes for the camera to power on and initialize.
- Verify that live video appears and that PTZ controls respond correctly.
Can I use a PoE switch or power adapter?
Yes. The camera supports:
- PoE+ (IEEE 802.3at)
- 24V AC
- 36V DC
If you use an external PoE+ switch, connect the switch to your router, connect the camera to the switch, and then add the camera to the recorder through the local network if needed.
If using the included power adapter, match the polarity correctly. Connect the striped positive wire from the power adapter to the terminal opposite the camera’s red wire, and connect the remaining power adapter wire to the terminal opposite the camera’s black wire.

How do I add the camera if it is on the local network?
- In Live View, click + on an empty camera channel.
- You can also go to Main Menu > Settings > Channel > Camera.

- You can also go to Main Menu > Settings > Channel > Camera.
- Click Search Device. The NVR will search the network for compatible cameras.
- Select the camera you want to add.
- Click Add.
- The status indicator will turn green when the camera is successfully connected.
How do I use PTZ controls?
PTZ controls are available directly from Live View when a supported PTZ camera is connected.
- In Live View, select the channel with the connected PTZ camera.
- Click PTZ in the Quick Camera Toolbar.
- The PTZ control panel appears in the bottom-right corner of the screen.

- Use the directional arrows to move the camera up, down, left, right, or diagonally.
- Use Zoom + or Zoom - to zoom in or out.
- Use Focus, Iris, and Auto Focus if needed.
How do I create and use presets?
A preset saves a specific camera position for quick access.
- Open the Preset menu.

- Click Add.

- Use the directional controls to move the camera to the desired position.
- Select a Preset number.
- Enter a Name.
- Click Save.
To go to a preset, open the Preset menu, select a preset from the list, then click Go To.
How do I create and run a scan?
A scan moves the camera automatically between two positions. This is useful for scanning wide areas such as parking lots, driveways, hallways, or perimeters.
- Open the Scan menu.

- Select a Scan number.
- Click Edit.

- Use the directional arrows to move the camera to the first scan position.
- Click Start to set the first position.
- Use the directional arrows to move the camera to the next position.
- Click Pause to set the second position and save the scan.

To start a scan, open the Scan menu, select the desired scan number, then click Go To.
How do I create and run a tour?
A tour cycles the camera through multiple preset positions automatically. This allows the camera to monitor several areas in sequence.
- Open the Tour menu.

- Select a Tour number.
- Click Edit.

- Click + to add a preset to the tour.

- Select a Preset from the list.
- Set the dwell time in seconds for how long the camera will remain at that preset.
- Repeat the steps to add additional presets to the tour.
- Click Save.
To start a tour, open the Tour menu, select the desired tour, then click Go To.
How do I set up Auto Tracking?
Auto Tracking enables the PTZ camera to automatically detect, follow, and maintain focus on moving targets such as people or vehicles.
- Right-click twice to open the Main Menu.
- Click Settings.
- Select the Channel tab at the top of the menu.
- Click Auto Tracking from the left-side menu.

- Select the PTZ camera Channel.
- Enable Auto Tracking.
- Adjust Calibration Coefficient, Trace Magnify, and Time of Duration as needed.
- Select the Start Point preset where the PTZ camera will return after tracking is completed.
- Select the Tracking Type.
- Click Apply to save.
How do I link PTZ presets to IVS / AI events?
You can link a PTZ camera preset position to an IVS analytics event so the camera automatically moves to a predefined view when the event is detected.
- From live view, right-click twice to open the Main Menu.
- Click Settings.
- Select the IVS tab.
- Open the analytics menu that contains the detection type you want to configure. For most event-based analytics, click Smart Analysis.
- Select the detection type you want to use, such as Intrusion, Smart Motion, Single Line Crossing, Double Line Crossing, Loitering, Wrong Way, Illegal Parking, or People Counting.

- Select the camera Channel.
- Enable the detection type.
- Configure the detection area, detection line, target type, direction, sensitivity, or time threshold as required.
- Click the Event Actions tab.
- Enable PTZ.
- Under Channel, select the PTZ camera channel that should respond to the event.
- Under Preset, select the preset position that the PTZ camera should move to when the event is triggered.
- Configure any other event actions as needed, such as recording, email, buzzer, FTP upload, alarm output, full screen display, speaker message, or deterrence light.
- Click Apply to save.
How do I reset the camera or install a microSD card?
The camera’s reset button and microSD card slot are both located inside the service panel.
To access them, loosen the service panel screws using the included Allen key, then remove the service panel cover.

- To reset the camera: Make sure the camera is powered on, then press and hold the reset button for 5 seconds to restore the camera to factory settings. After the reset, it may take a few minutes for the camera image to reappear.
- To install a microSD card: Insert a microSD card into the card slot, then re-secure the service panel cover.
- Important: The microSD card is not included.
- Capacity: The camera supports microSD cards up to 1 TB.
What resolution, frame rate, lens, and field of view does it support?
- Resolution: Up to 4K (3840 × 2160)
- Frame rate: Up to 30 fps

Does the camera support audio?
Yes. The camera includes a built-in microphone and speaker and supports two-way talk.
The camera also supports Audio In and Audio Out connections for external audio devices, such as a microphone or speaker, depending on the installation. Configure audio options from the recorder as needed.
Note: Audio recording is disabled by default. Audio recording without consent is illegal in certain jurisdictions. Follow all local laws and regulations when using audio features.
Does the camera support ONVIF and RTSP?
Yes. The camera supports ONVIF and RTSP.
This can help with compatible network video workflows, but for best compatibility and full feature support, use a supported Lorex NVR.
Does the camera support local storage?
Yes. The camera supports a microSD card up to 1 TB for independent local recording.
Important: microSD footage can be accessed through the camera in a web browser, but it does not upload to the NVR or the cloud for mobile app viewing.
How do I install the camera correctly?
- Test first: Connect the camera to the NVR and test video and PTZ control operation before permanent installation.
- Check the surface: Make sure the mounting surface can support the camera and wall mount. The camera weighs 8.82 lb (4 kg).
- Use the safety chain: Always connect the included safety chain during installation to help prevent accidental drops.
- Weatherproof the connection: Use the included weather-resistant RJ45 cable gland for outdoor Ethernet connections exposed to moisture.
- Protect cables: Plan cable routing in advance and make sure all cables are protected from moisture and physical damage.
- Use a sheltered location: Installation in a sheltered location, such as under eaves, is recommended to prolong product life.
- Finalize the view: After mounting, use the recorder’s PTZ controls, presets, scans, tours, and Auto Tracking settings as needed.
Can the camera be mounted on a wall?
Yes. The camera includes a wall mount and is designed for wall-mounted installation on a suitable surface.
The camera supports:
- Pan: 0° to 360° endless rotation
- Tilt: -15° to +90° with auto-flip
- PTZ: Remote pan, tilt, and zoom operation
What is the operating temperature and weather rating?

- Operating temperature: -40°F to 140°F (-40°C to 60°C)
- Operating humidity: ≤ 90% RH
Note: The camera is not intended for submersion in water. A sheltered installation location is recommended where possible.
