This FAQ & Troubleshooting Guide covers the most common questions and issues for the Lorex Connect X3 4K PoE Turret Camera with Active Deterrence (CNL01P-1TB-AB1 / CNL01P-1TW-AB1). Use it to quickly troubleshoot camera power and connection issues, image and night vision problems, active deterrence, audio / Two-Way Talk, AI detection, local storage, and NVR / app setup.

Need more details? Refer to the camera’s Specification Sheet, Installation Guide, and your compatible Lorex NVR User Manual.

RECOMMENDED: For the clearest setup and configuration steps, use this article together with your compatible NVR user manual. Camera connection, recording, audio, active deterrence, and IVS / AI event settings are configured from the recorder.

TABLE OF CONTENTS

Quick Fix Checklist (Start Here)

  • Power: Confirm the camera is connected to a working PoE (IEEE 802.3af) source or supported 12V DC power source.
  • Connection: Check that the Ethernet cable is fully seated at both ends and is not damaged.
  • NVR: If connected through the local network instead of directly to the recorder’s PoE ports, make sure the camera has been searched for or added manually.
  • Credentials: If the camera appears with a red status, verify that the camera username and password are correct.
  • Image: Clean the camera lens and make sure the protective film has been removed.
  • Night view: Keep nearby walls, branches, glass, and reflective surfaces away from the immediate camera view.
  • Active deterrence: If the lights or siren are not working, verify the required deterrence action is enabled for the selected event and that its schedule is active.
  • Two-Way Talk: Confirm both audio input and speaker output are enabled if audio communication is not working.

Camera does not power on / no image

  • Confirm the camera is connected to a compatible PoE (IEEE 802.3af) source or supported 12V DC power supply.
  • If connected directly to an NVR PoE port, try a different PoE port or Ethernet cable.
  • If connected through a PoE switch, make sure the switch is powered on and the camera and recorder are connected to the same local network.
  • Allow the camera time to power on and initialize after connecting it.
  • If needed, test the camera using a short, known-good Ethernet cable close to the recorder or PoE switch.

Camera offline / not detected

  • For the simplest setup, connect the camera directly to an available PoE port on a compatible NVR.
  • If the camera is connected through the local network, go to Main Menu > Settings > Channel > Camera.
  • Click Start Search to scan the network for available cameras.
  • Select the camera and click Add.

  • Enter the camera’s IP address into a compatible web browser.
  • Log in using the camera username and password.
  • If the camera is connected directly to an NVR PoE port, network access to the camera may differ from a camera connected directly to your local network.
Tip: Confirm the camera’s current IP address before attempting browser access.

No audio / Two-Way Talk not working

  • Confirm Audio Input is enabled for the camera channel at Main Menu > Settings > Channel > Audio > Audio Input.
