Camera lens degrades over time

"My doorbell camera worked great with excellent video for about the first year. Then the video quality started getting a little blurry. It got gradually worse but eventually got so bad that you could not make out anything. A person just looked like blur, totally unrecognizable. I contacted Lorex and they reluctantly replaced it. The replacement started doing the same thing after about 1 year and soon became unusable. Of course by this time the warranty had expired. This camera is exposed to the weather, but facing north and not ever in direct sunlight. I have numerous Lorex doorbells, cameras and NVR. I will not be replacing this one again with Lorex."

"The camera is ok, viewing is good but the chime doesn’t work. I think the chime’s should be tested before sending to customers. These chimes that is now used in the mechanical door bell does not work. I love Lorex products and think they are the best."

There is no room behind

"There is no room behind this doorbell button to have even the smallest of wire nuts to connect the doorbell wires to the house wiring for the doorbell. Wires are included with rounded-Y connectors to hook to the tiny screws on the back of the doorbell button. But the screws are very tiny and the connectors are “Y’s” not “O’s” so the Y’s fall off. The wires leading into the house also fall off if I connect them directly to the doorbell. It’s like working in a miniature world. There’s no room behind the doorbell to fit any wire nuts, not even the smallest ones. So I’m going to have to create my own “box” to install behind this doorbell just to allow room for a couple of tiny wire nuts, or solder my house wires to some “O” shaped connectors. This seems to be a very common problem with video doorbells. All other electrical devices around the house are mounted to a box which provides plenty of room for connections. Some brands are so common that small extension boxes are sold on the secondary market, which provide the required space for wired connections, but I could not find any for Lorex."

Worst Experience

"The doorbell will not connect despite ensuring 2. 4Ghz; even using a 2. 4H hotspot. After multiple Tech support calls asking exactly the same questions with the same directives I was finally able to convince them the device is defective. It got worse; the promise of replacement hasn’t happened after 2 follow up calls. It has now been about 1 month. And this is after having to order it directly over the phone from Lorex. I still had to jump through many hoops providing model and serial #s AND proof of purchase EVEN with an order number. To date I don’t have a functioning doorbell. Thus far everything has been negative."

Love the night light that

"Love the night light that comes on, and how it blinks to notify package thieves they are being recorded. Seamlessly attached to my Lorex NVR. You must install as a doorbell separately to get the doorbell notifications. The 2k resolution blows away the ring doorbell I replaced. . . and NO MONTHLY/ANNUAL FEE!!!"

"Device Storage Corrupted"

"Constantly sends warning that device storage is corrupted. I'm on my third sd card now, same problem. As soon as it hits about 32GB of stored video, "corrupted". First on a 256 sd card, now on my second 128 sd card. Also, this 2K doorbell uses 4 times as much sd space as my 4K driveway cam does. Something is not right. Not happy. Also goes offline randomly."

We bought this as a

"We bought this as a replacement for an older Lorex video doorbell (our 4th doorbell purchase all of which we installed ourselves) but we had trouble getting the unit into "Hotspot" mode. Long story short, after several calls and emails to Lorex tech support, installing a new 24v doorbell transformer, a new 24v doorbell chime (the old ones worked fine prior to this), rewiring the circuit that the transformer was on, and receiving a replacement doorbell, the doorbell was installed in less than 15 minutes. The product itself is great. Tech support was helpful and in the end, we have a new functioning video doorbell."

"The system is nice for letting you know who was at your door. Since it is based on WIFI, there is normally too long of a delay for you to be "live. " So it helps to track the past. That does help catch criminals after they had time to enter, but generally not before. So you just have to have realistic expectations as to how much security they provide."
