2K superHD security DVR

2K resolution security footage

In order to capture the details you need, you need a security DVR that can handle recording high quality security footage. Thankfully, this DVR is capable of recording crystal clear 2K resolution footage on all channels*. This resolution is double that of 1080p, and will provide you with richer detail and higher quality digital zooms.

*4MP High Definition MPX cameras are required to take advantage of 4MP recording.

2k vs 1080p

The 2K difference

SuperHD 2K video offers clear identification and exceptional detail, ensuring that nothing is left to the imagination. This higher resolution (2592 × 1520 pixels - compared to 1920 × 1080) will provide you with a better chance to capture important details, such as faces. Doubling the amount of pixels will also vastly improve the quality of digital zooms when reviewing footage. This means that if you see something in the distance of your footage, you will be able to digitally zoom in twice as far before the image starts to blur together.

30 FPS DVR

Real-time 30FPS recording rate

Choose to record 2K resolution at 12 frames per second (FPS) or record at a real-time 30 frames per second (FPS) rate at 1080p resolution. This high frame rate provides real-time motion, ensuring that you don't miss the best moments.

Lorex Cloud App

Remote viewing from your mobile with Lorex Cloud™

The DV800 Series DVR is designed for use with our innovative hassle-free Lorex Cloud™ app Using Lorex Cloud™, you can quickly and easily view your security system remotely from your smartphone or tablet. There are no difficult port forwarding or other complicated network setups either. Simply download the free app, scan the QR code on the DVR and your cameras will appear for you to monitor (or review footage). You can also program the app to send you motion-activated push notifications and email alerts with screenshot attachments straight to your phone to keep you connected to your property at all times.

BNC security camera connection

Single cable camera connection

Standard siamese BNC cabling is used to connect MPX security cameras. This BNC cable provides both video and power transmission up to 300ft for an easy-to-install process that will have your surveillance system up and running in no time. If needed, MPX cameras can be installed further than 300ft away, but the camera will need to be plugged in directly to an electrical outlet.

DVR supports all IP cameras

Supports a full range of MPX, analog, CVI, and wireless cameras

This DVR is compatible with our full line of high definition MPX and wireless security cameras (excluding wire-free security cameras). It is also backward compatible, meaning older analog and CVI security cameras will still work as well.

Upgrade older DVR systems

The technology within a Lorex DVR has changed drastically over the past few years. Thankfully the way in which camera cables are connected to it has not. This means that it is extremely easy to upgrade your older DVR security system to a new one. You can also easily swap your older analog cameras for brand new HD ones using the same cabling.

24/7 heavy-duty professional HDD for security systems

Reliable security grade hard drive

DVRs such as this are capable of working 24/7 without a break. Thankfully, so is the 3TB hard drive within it. Lorex uses security certified hard drives that are manufactured specifically to meet the high workload demands of continuous security monitoring. This means that you can rely on this professional grade hard drive to safely store weeks (or even months) of security footage. It is also possible to manually upgrade the hard drive within the DVR to a hard drive up to 8TB in size.

DVR recording modes - continuous, scheduled, motion

Different recording modes

This DVR has three different recording options to suit your needs. You can record footage continuously, during scheduled times, or when movement is detected. These options can be customized with each of your security cameras, which means you can have your most important camera recording all of the time while lower activity cameras can be programmed only to record on motion. To be safe, this DVR includes a pre-recording function that goes along with the motion recording option. This feature will go back to record the five seconds before the motion is detected, so you never have to worry about missing those first vital moments.

DVR with auto-recovery

Automatic overwrite

You don't have to worry about storage management with this DVR. It is designed to automatically overwrite the oldest data with the newest data when the hard drive becomes full. This means that you will never run out of storage space. Just make sure to save any important footage before it gets overwritten.

auto-recovery DVR watch dog

Automatic recovery after power failure

An auto-recovery feature will automatically reboot your DVR once it regains power. This means that you don't have to do a thing - your system will simply start recording again within minutes. A Watch Dog function is also built-in to this DVR that continuously monitors the system for potential system errors. If it detects a critical error, Watch Dog will automatically reboot the system, which helps ensure system stability, keeps your cameras recording, and prevents future system failures.

This should have been simple

"This should have been simple but I cannot get cameras discovered. Everything says it is online yet cannot configure a thing. $700 for a piece of junk that cannot find my cameras. Support stinks."

"We purchased this DVR to replace our old Samsung DVR. We chose this DVR due to its MPX technology that promised 2K HD quality video. We are surprised on how good the quality of video is using MPX cameras. Very impressed! Also a good fit for us due to the fact hat we are using older analog cameras in combination with new MPX cameras. Easy to setup."

I bought this dvr and

"I bought this dvr and when connecting the ptz domes, norm rs485, protocol pelco P, it does not recognize it. I tried to solve the problem with the technical support staff and they did not know how to advise me. I wrote a review and they did not publish it to me. I do not recommend this brand, I will never buy a Lorex DVR again."

Gastongut (1/5)

For several years we used

"For several years we used a generic brand DVR for our surveillance, after the 3rd replacement we decided it was time to switch to an optimal device. We had purchased a few cameras from Lorex and decided to give them a try with a DVR. First we got our device at a discounted price, it came with a Hard Drive (generic DVR's never came with HD) and it was simple to setup. The image was amazing (4K), it was able to adapt to older type of cameras and the remote accessing (FLIR cloud) was easy to setup and quick to access. We have found our new home for all our surveillance needs."

Patrick (3/5)

I installed a DV8163 MPX

"I installed a DV8163 MPX DVR to replace an older Lorex Edge DVR. The main reason for the upgrade was fading support for the Web and mobile device access apps, but I was pleasantly surprised with the greatly enhanced user interface of the new system. Everything connected to the old unit easily moved over to the DV8163 including the existing 960H cameras. Looking forward to future camera upgrades."

Steve (5/5)

I upgraded from my discontinued

"I upgraded from my discontinued Nuvico DVR which they decide no longer to support. I research all of the different web sites and after many discussions choose Lorex as they have an excellent support team along with state of the art technology. My DV816-D was seamless to install into my existing system along with the new technology allowing me to upgrade my current analog cameras. Then I installed FLIR Cloud which is a great app that they support with this system and couldn't be happier."
