This is a great camera

"This is a great camera system for the price. I did a lot of research before going with lorex and this system. I have 2.5 acres and have had issues with people stealing everything from wood i have chopped and stacked to packages that were delivered, so i wanted a system that was high quality, reliable, and could alert me when someone in on my property without the added cost of having a company monitor the system. Installation was easy. At this point i have 5 cameras out of the 8 set up, the other 3 i am putting over 100ft away from the NVR so i am doing some research on POE lengths so i dont lose quality. As a few people have stated the fan is a little on the loud side but i had planned on putting it in an interior close so i dont hear it at all. The cameras are built well so i highly doubt i will have issues during hurricanes or other storms. The video quality is awesome, i have ran an HDMI cable to a splitter and have a feed to my living room tv and our master bedroom TV. I like that the quality is so high that you can zoom in on a person 200 ft away and there is no distortion or pixilation so you can get a great description. A few recommendations on the install: I would recommend if you drill a hole through an exterior wall use a 7/8th spade bit and run the wire from the camera through the wall and then run a bead of silicone around the hole and then mount the camera. #2 if you have to connect the wires to where they will be outside i would recommend using DI-electric grease in the connection to help keep moisture out. The weather seal they have is good but i would not leave it to chance. #3 the screws the cameras come with are not the greatest, i stripped 2 of the 4 out on the first camera so i went and bought 1 1/2 inch exterior wood screws to mount the cameras and had no issues. All in all this was one of the best systems i found. I spent a quarter of the price compared to a security camera dealer and twice the quality. The only thing that took me a little bit to figure out was the motion detection system. I dont recommend linking the app on your phone with the system until you are home and have a few hours to make adjustments to the motion sensors otherwise your phone will constantly be going on off with person or vehicle detection alerts every time someone drives or walks in view of the camera."

If I had known this

"If I had known this NVR was going to be as noisy as it is, I would NOT have purchased it. We have almost all the 8 cameras wired up around the house and connected to the downstairs bedroom. Big mistake. The fan in this thing is extremely loud...no one would be able to sleep with this noise. So, now I have to pay my guy to rewire it in the upstairs "office" (a bedroom not slept in). Please ask questions before purchasing this system. Be aware, too, that you cannot zoom in with these cameras nor are they wide angle. Maybe I was expecting too much or didn't pay attention to the details before purchasing."

"NVR and Cameras works great, Lorex Home is great app. connects every time using iphone and T-Mobile. picture quality is great. my only concern is water get in wire connection where camera is connected to network wire after first rain and NVR fan is too loud . I am a technical guy and I installed camera according to specification. connection was not loose at all, but water find its way into wire connection and system went down. Next day I disconnect all connections an dry them out. luckily cameras are working fine. now I applied silicone on joints and electric tape. hope it stays strong in next rain. I like lorex picture quality and there app is great. only have to be careful with rain water getting into wire connection."

"Ordered this system directly from Lorex. Ordered via phone and received shipment after around 2 weeks. Great product so far. All equipment was clearly marked, and installation was very straightforward PoE option is best but make sure you know the distances for your runs as there are limits on the wire length for CAT 5 vs CAT 6/7. Local NVR was best option here with Lorex Cloud app I can access the system from anywhere. Picture quality is excellent. I switched from ARLO wireless as I got tired of replacing batteries."

This is my third Lorex

"This is my third Lorex security camera system and the best so far. The picture area is much wider and clearer than previous cameras. I had no trouble getting the system set up and cameras installed. The replay feature is very useful, particularly being able to expand the bar at the bottom of the screen to select a specific time to replay. I've Lorex Cirrus app works very well, too, for viewing the cameras when I'm not at home. I would recommend this system."
