"I purchased the 2KMPX844D May 23, 2018 and it was delivered seven days later. During that time I received numerous e-mails from Lorex keeping me updated on the progress of my purchase. My first impression of Lorex was very good. The packaging of the equipment plus each individual component was the best that I have ever observed and I have made many mail order purchases throughout my 70 plus years. It was packaged to withstand rough handling; however, neither of the two packaged had so much as a scratch or dent--thanks UPS. After trying several different recording configurations over a period of several months I eventually set up all cameras to record only when motion is detected. This setup gives me almost a month of recording capability. I was really impressed with the ability to block out unwanted motion that would have triggered a motion event (eg: cars passing by on the street, plants/trees moving in the wind). Update: 3Jul 2019 I continue to be pleased with my Lorex system.. It provides the visual monitoring service that I wanted. I have had several instances where I was able to use it to identify who the culprit was--once a dog and once a raccoon. I wish the cameras had a slightly wider field of view, better night vision, and 8 channel playback; however, over all I continue to be pleased with my purchase."

Lots to say as I've

"Lots to say as I've learned a lot. Overall, I am pleased with this system. The cameras in my system have great daytime color and clarity. Nighttime IR (or color viewing if enough ambient light is present) is good, but you have to be realistic as well. Lots of factors determine how well you'll see an object at night such as a person or reflective license plate, so don't set yourself for disappointment expecting to see crystal clear in every scenario. Cameras come with a variety of lenses and capabilities for those very reasons. But for general property security, these meet my needs. This system is self-generating at start-up. I literally had to do nothing but connect the cables and all cameras were recognized when the system booted-up. Very easy. The DVR is quiet and simple to connect everything to it, so not much to do there. So far the FLIR APP and software has been working very well on my Android phone. I really enjoy seeing my house, property, and pet activity anytime I want from my phone. I've had to contact customer service several times, either about a replacement item or for general questions. I've used the phone primarily, but also used their chat feature on the website. Each time I called I was very pleased with the technical knowledge and courtesy provided. It's understandable to worry about heavy accents and/or getting your thoughts across to representatives who are in other countries. I don't know where customer service is based at, but so far each event has gone very well and the representative(s) have met my needs as I had hoped. I did have to exchange an 8-in-1 power adapter I purchased initially to help eliminate all the individual power adapter requirements to each camera. It seemed to be defective, but a replacement was provided quickly. For longer distances, the factory (smaller) BNC cables may not provide adequate power to the cameras for nighttime IR use. Be prepared to purchase the Lorex High Performance cables. They are much thicker and allow power to flow more efficiently. I wish they came with the kit originally, but then the kit would cost more. But the better cables resolved my power issue. These cameras all have about 85 degree lenses. For general viewing it's fine. In the future I may explore a camera or two with a 120 degree or more viewing angle. Just depends on the location (i.e. porch). Would I recommend this system to a friend - yes."

Very simple to install. Cameras

"Very simple to install. Cameras have very good resolution. The best feature is the the recorder which has many settings which can be customized for your specific situation. My only complaint (and it comes from the nerd in me) is that there is no detail on fine tuning the system. Fortunately the default settings are quite good but I would have liked to see quite a bit more detail on some of the adjustments. For example the brightness, contrast, chroma, saturation, noise reduction etc on each camera can all be adjusted for optimum performance for different time periods throughout the day. A camera adjusted for a bright sunny parking lot needs to be adjusted differently for a dark foggy parking lot. A camera inside a warehouse should be tweeked differently than one in a dim stairwell. The instructions don't have any suggestions for deviating from the default settings. Some tips on increasing chroma for this situation or decreasing saturation (or whatever) for those conditions would save so much trial and error. That said, it's a great system and the support techs are there for solving problems - in English with no hard to understand accent! As soon as my system to the neighbour, he bought the identical system and he likes it as much as I like mine."

"I purchased this system to replace a Zmodo system. I did have to replace the cabling but that was simple as I connected it to the exiting, pullout the old and pulled in the new. It has a higher resolution and significant improvement during nigh vision. Wish I would have bought this to begin with. Well worth the minimal additional cost for the improved product."

Was previously using a 16

"Was previously using a 16 channel HD Defeway. Absolute PoS !!! TERRIBLE customer support, required Internet Explorer for web access, terrible activeX, terrible third party mobile app etc... All in all not a good experience. Video quality was OK (1280x720) but channels available dropped when using 1080p cameras (again, nothing stated anywhere that this would happen) Compared to the Defeway system my Lorex is fantastic. Can read car plates with the 2K camera at about 30', when viewing live streams there is very little frame drop and image quality is significantly better than the 1280x720 (kindof obvious, but still... better than I was expecting). The mobile app is reasonable too, and being able to enable main stream viewing on the mobile app is great !!! Very little loss of quality over LTE. Love it. Even the night video is pretty good. In fact, it is almost too bright on one of my positions where my shed is only about 15' from the camera!!! I can see right across my pool area which is about 35' . Might have to try a 4K camera just for the heck of it :) My only complaint is that the HDD is a little on the noisy side. All my equipment is in my media room, so any additional noise can be a bit distracting. All in all, pretty pleased so far."

Q&A

The video has gone black on all cameras. I have powered off several times and the cameras have not come back up. It does show the date and time. Looking for suggestions on what to do? I’ve had since 2018.
Please verify the power adapters of the cameras and check if they are receiving enough power, additionally, connect one camera directly to the power adapter bypassing the splitter and check if it works. We suggest you contact support at 1-888-425-67-39
